Here at The Cheap Place, we have all sorts of embroidered patches for bikers and non-bikers alike. We have large back patches. We have small, funny patches and all sorts of flag patches. Then there are the rockers. We offer a selection of both upper and lower rockers, including the 2023 Year Patch Lower Rocker in red.
If you are new to biker patches, allow us to explain the rocker for you. Its origins come from the 'colors' worn by members of organized motorcycle clubs. On the back of a member's leather jacket or vest are a minimum of three patches. The club's back patch is the largest of the three. It takes up most of the available area.
Above and below the back patch are two semi-circular patches known as rockers. You have the upper and lower rocker. In a traditional design, the upper rocker displays the club's name. The lower rocker displays the particular region a biker is from. So why does this lower rocker display the year?
Some biker clubs are less formal. They are more just a group of like-minded bikers who like to ride together without a serious club affiliation. In such cases, they may not have official colors. Generic rockers create a similar look without tying a biker's jacket or vest to a particular club.
Likewise, some bikers prefer to ride alone. We call them 'lone wolves'. For them, the upper and lower rockers do the same thing. They keep the same design of the traditional colors even though the lone wolf isn't tied to any particular club. As for this patch, it shows the current year in red. We also have an upper rocker of similar design. We even have upper and lower rockers displaying the year in white.
